FANTA – Happy Holo-ween on the Haunted Double-Decker

Over the years, Halloween has pretty much become a FANTA tradition. Every year, the makers of our favorite orange soda roll out something epic for the spookiest day of the year. In 2023, they wanted to be present in public spaces again, as part of their Halloween campaign. They wanted something eye-catching, a little creepy, and definitely interactive. Naturally, our Loud Impact Unit was immediately all ears.

The idea came to us via The Wow (W-com). And since our friends in Cologne are just as excited about co-creation as we are, they already had a rough vision in mind: something with a double-decker bus. Indoors, packed with people, and full of Halloween vibes. That’s the kind of challenge we love. So we didn’t just fine-tune the concept—we implemented the whole thing: from feasibility checks to the full-blown execution and live support on-site. Done and dusted.

Our biggest challenges? Tight timelines and finding the perfect location. But nothing that would even make our project management team blink. We quickly locked in the spot that checked every box: the bus was going to the Mall of Berlin. To give our double-decker activation the right momentum that does justice to FANTA’s Halloween tradition we had to:

  • Design the bus and the whole activation space
  • Create the holoscreen concept and finding the right co-creators
  • Coordinate with all partners, from setup to takedown and on-the-ground support

What we built was a full-blown haunted experience—inside a double-decker bus. Right in the heart of the Mall of Berlin. Beyond spooky scares, the bus also featured a fun photo activation. Visitors became FANTA ghosts: their pictures were turned into holograms floating above the bus and simultaneously displayed live on 100 digital billboards across the city. It was immersive and got the locals to engage and create a bunch of content. So when people ask us what Loud Impact really means,there is only one answer: It’s when you get people waiting in line for two hours.
